Sports

Play Marin offers the kids sports for all seasons! We make sports possible by providing coaches, paying league fees, arranging local practices, and providing the kids necessary equipment (jerseys, shoes, etc.)

The team sports we offer include basketball, volleyball, track & field, and soccer.

In addition, we offer clinics and one-off opportunities for the kids to try tennis, sailing, swimming, rowing, skateboarding, mountain biking, surfing, golf, lacrosse, and more.

We encourage the kids to try different sports, working with different coaches and kids from across Marin County. By exposing the students to a variety of sports, we hope they discover a love of exercise, learn teamwork and collaboration, and potentially find a passion for a sport and group of friends that keeps them engaged in school and build self-confidence.

Enrichment Activities

Beyond sports, we work to create inclusion and community for the kids and families in Marin City with a variety of enrichment activities.

Every December we take kids to the Holiday Heroes in San Francisco where they can do crafts, decorate cookies, receive gifts, and meet local heroes. For some of our kids, this outing is their main holiday festivities.

We also arrange events such as going to the movies to see Wakanda Forever or traveling to Stanford University to watch Marin City’s own Darrion Trammell play basketball for San Diego State University.

These activities expose the kids to a broader world of art, education, and entertainment all while building community and friendships.

Summer Camp

As any working parent will tell you, summer camps are essential! Our summer camps are filled with fun and a chance to make new friends.

We also partner with high school volunteers to create and deliver their own clinic. Clinics have included lacrosse, dance, guitar, and fishing.

For example: Tara Sridharan, Branson varsity tennis player, created and coached a tennis clinic to 25 kids ages 7-13 during summer 2022 & 2023. Her summer tennis program for Play Marin was featured in the featured in the Marin Independent Journal.

If your teenager would like to get involved with Play Marin, please contact us to volunteer for our summer camp or share your ideas to host a clinic or activity.
